Welcome Message from the Chair of APHN
As the Chair of the Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network (APHN) and Co-Conference Chair, it is my great pleasure to invite all of you to attend APHC 2025 in picturesque Kuching, Sarawak!
The Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Conference (APHC) is the pinnacle regional conference and has a reputation for its high scientific program, networking capabilities and its connections; bringing people and services together, united by our passion in the space of end of life and palliative care.
Also, as the Scientific Chair, working with an International Scientific Committee, I am excited to bring and welcome many diverse international and regional experts in their field of clinical care, advocacy and research, to this conference. The innovative collection of topics that we have included aims to challenge us to look deeply at our regional palliative care programs and Models of Care, standards and excellence in patient care and topical areas that provide us with a stimulus to look beyond our own practice. These include: Advance Care Planning, cultural diversity and the global humanitarian crisis, how our region maps with regards to palliative care development in the world, compassionate communities and advocacy, which are some of the inspiring keynote addresses that will feature in our conference program in Sarawak.
The conference theme, ‘Embracing Diversity, Empowering Communities’, will feature throughout the program to highlight, that much of what we do is diverse (culture, language, geography, resources), yet the need to provide patient-centred care and, at the same time, the need to build connections with others, within our own communities and beyond, are important in order to sustain this work. The conference provides a platform to network with others, strengthen collaboration, share ideas, present your works and inspire others through the stories that you tell.
Come and enjoy the wonderful landscape of Kuching, Sarawak, boasting tradition, culture and hospitality unique to this part of the Asia Pacific Region. The social program and personal touches planned for this conference will inspire and replenish all of us, motivate us to continue this crucial work that touches the lives of so many patients/carers and families through our work, to empower our journey into the future.
